Congress
Representatives must speak out on the 2nd Amendment

Sample text to send your Congressman/Senator
“As a resident of Georgia/Your District I want to encourage you to resist any efforts to “just do something” at a national level regarding 2nd Amendment restrictions. Please do not support attempts to raise the minimim age for gun purchases or expanding restrictions on purchases.”
“There is so much clamor right now to further marganalize the Bill of Rights, especially the 2nd Amendment, that as my Representative I ask that you use your elected position and speak out about the importance of all 10 amendments, especially the 2nd. Additional weakening of the Right to Bear Arms can only serve to accelerate the erosion of the other rights.”

Georgia State Legislation

There are hundreds of bills working through the Legislature, but here are a few that we picked to focus on, many because there has been recent movement and they have a chance of moving.

SB 452 – Police, courts must help with immigration enforcement
Just passed Senate (37-16) and needs to get through the House
Require local police to notify prosecutors when they learn suspects are in the country illegally
Courts must determine whether they are here illegally and report to DHS
“This bill can save lives,” said state Sen. Josh McKoon

SB 417 – Driver’s Licenses for Illegals
Has not passed the Senate
Would require different orientation for driver’s licenses for people here illegally
Needs real help to pass before Crossover

HB 793 – Corporate Tax Break for Fish
Exempt construction materials used in a Georgia Aquarium expansion from taxes
Stalled in the House
Keep it that way

HB 866 – Free Credit Freeze
Clark Howard lobbied for
Currently Reporting companies charge for freeze/unfreeze
With risk of data hacking, should be free
They make money simply by selling our data, should be protected

HB 969 – Civil Asset Forfeture
Change the standard for evidence from “Preponderance of the Evidence” to “Clear and Convincing”
Much higher standard
Used by 22 other states
Stalled in House
